Edt is a simple text editor that emulates VAX VMS EDT. It uses the numeric keypad for common editing functions. It is easy to learn, efficient, and enables rapid editing. It recognizes the file suffix, automatically decompresses for editing, and re-zips on exit. This transparent process encourages keeping more files compressed on disk. The new XML format is easier to understand, customize, and maintain. 3 example keypad layout files are provided.
