Coreboot (formerly known as LinuxBIOS) is a project that aims to replace the normal BIOS with a little bit of hardware initialization and a payload. Payloads can include a compressed Linux kernel, FILO, GRUB2, OpenBIOS, Open Firmware, SmartFirmware, GNUFI (UEFI), Etherboot, ADLO (for booting Windows and OpenBSD), Plan 9, or memtest86. License: GNU General Public License (GPL) Changes: IRQ routing has been added. Support for the TeleVideo TC7020 has been added. A SHA-1 implementation was added to libpayload. ST M50FW016 and ST M50FW040 now support the 82802ab command set. There are numerous bugfixes and timer-related fixes.
