Cherokee is a very fast, flexible, and easy to configure Web server. It supports widespread technologies: FastCGI, SCGI, PHP, CGI, TLS and SSL encrypted connections, Virtual hosts, Authentication, on the fly encoding, Apache compatible log files, and much more. It also provides an easy to use configuration interface that allows you to configure the server from top to bottom without editing a text configuration file.

An administration interface has been added, so there is no longer any need to edit a configuration file by hand. Performance has been drastically improved: this version is 20% to 25% faster. Load balancing support has been added for HTTP, SCGI, and FastCGI. A new documentation system has been integrated and new user documentation has been written. A new recovery mechanism has been integrated to ensure that the server will always be up and running.
