BG-Rescue Linux is a Busybox and uClibc-based
rescue system with kernel 2.4.26 which supports
the NTFS 2.1.6b driver. It is loaded either from
two floppy disks or from one 2.8MB El Torito CD.
The system runs entirely in RAM. It supports a
wide range of hardware and filesystems, and can
serve as a full backup/restore system for MS
Windows systems that use FAT12, FAT16, or FAT32.
It also includes bzip2, cabextract, cmdftp,
cramfs, dosfstools, e2fsprogs, gpart, lilo,
loadlin, lphdisk, mdadm, ms-sys, ntfsprogs,
pcmcia-cardmgr, progsreiserfs, reiserfsck,
smbclient, syslinux, umsdos-utils, and zip. There
is support for automatically loading the F-Prot
antivirus program from CD-ROM.

This release updates the whole system and all integrated programs to recent versions, and adds things like full NTFS write support (using FUSE 2.7.2 and ntfsprogs 2.0.0), lzma compressed initrd as a ramdisk, limited DVD+RW write support, and more. Support has been added for F-Prot 6.x. Support for the following network devices has been added: Intel(R) PRO/1000, Realtek 8169, and Silan SC92031 / RealTek RTL-8139 D. Support has been added for most of the serial ATA devices supportes by Linux kernel 2.4. XFS filesystem support has been added.
