About Sound Byte
A computerized cart machine for your computer. It is very similar to the so-called cart machines used at radio stations in the past. Each recording - a jingle, advertisement, etc, was on a cartidge, which could be quickly selected and played.
Sound Byte brings the cart machine to the computer age. You can select up to 75 recordings per rack (screen), and assign each to a button. Clicking on a button plays that recording. You can also assign a hot key to a button, so typing that key will also play the sound. This makes Sound Byte perfect for playing sound effects at sporting and other events.
- Multiple recordings can be played at the same time. The playback speed and pitch of each recording can be independently controlled.
- A playlist feature allows you to organize sound clips to be played in a particular order.
- The timed playlist feature allows you to schedule clips to play at a certain time - great for live radio shows and other productions. Many more features.
- A remote control feature allows another computer - either via a LAN or the internet - to control the playback of sound files.
- Sound Byte can toggle the handshake lines on a serial port when a sound is playing, allowing control of external devices such as radio transmitters.
