SMARTReporter warns of ATA hard drive failures before they happen by periodically polling the S.M.A.R.T. status of the drives. S.M.A.R.T. (Self-Monitoring Analysis and Reporting Technology) is a technology built into most modern hard drives that acts as an "early warning system" for pending drive problems. SMARTReporter can notify you of impending drive failures by sending email messages, displaying a warning dialog, or executing an application. The current status of your drives is always displayed through the customizable menu item. License: MIT/X Consortium License Changes: Reporting of crashes (of DesktopLyrics) works under Mac OS X 10.5 "Leopard", as does the "Start on login" feature through a new Leopard-specific implementation. Preferences files have been renamed to avoid possible conflicts (the old one is automatically reused). The drive data file has been renamed and moved to the "ByHost" folder for net booting support. "Sparkle" (the framework used for version checking and automatic updates) has been updated to fix possible crashes during updates A new menu icon set, "Colored Dots", has been added. The FAQ has been expanded.
