Z1 SecureMail Messenger is a Web messaging
application that enables a confidential
(encrypted) exchange of messages if an external
user has neither a valid X.509 certificate nor a
valid PGP key. Z1 SecureMail Messenger creates
for the recipient a secure Web mailbox and a pair
of RSA keys. Then, encrypted email messages are
saved there. The external recipient can view the
email messages and download them using a Web
browser. This is comparable to using a Web mailer
interface. A transfer of data in accordance to the
security policy is guaranteed, because the Web
browser accesses the Z1 SecureMail Messenger using
encryption (HTTPS). The external recipient can
also reply and send new messages and attachments.
