The Flight Gear Flight Simulator project is a free, open-source, multi-platform, cooperative flight sim development project. Source code for the entire project is available and licensed under the GPL. The Flight Gear project is working to create a sophisticated flight simulator framework for the development and pursuit of interesting flight simulator ideas. We are developing a good basic sim that can be expanded and improved upon by anyone interested in contributing. License: GNU General Public License (GPL) Changes: Major realism improvements were made in the helicopter Flight Model. Gliding with winch launching and aerotowing (YASim) was improved. Support for water planes was added. Multiplayer chat (text and voice) was added. The tutorial system was improved. Viewpoints were improved, including a fly-by view and a dynamic cockpit view. Interactive/scripted control of AI aircraft was added. TACAN was added for easier air-to-air refueling. KC135 can be AI or flown by a player on the Multi-Play servers. Many new and improved aircraft are available.
