JPOX provides transparent persistence of Java objects. It fully complies with the JDO 1.0 and JDO 2.0 specifications. It supports persistence to all of the major RDBMS on the market today. It allows querying using either JDOQL, SQL, or JPQL. It comes with its own byte-code enhancer. Its 1.1.0 release is Sun's "Reference Implementation" for JDO 2.0. Its 1.2 release will implement the JPA 1.0/JDO 2.1 specifications and support persistence to DB4O. It is highly extensible using OSGi technology. License: The Apache License 2.0 Changes: Support for JDO2.1 CopyOnAttach, "Managed relations", and "persistent abstract classes" were added. Support for dynamic fetch groups (JDO2.2 proposal) was added. Persistence to RDBMS datastores was separated into a separate plugin, and has had many improvements to reduce the number of SQL statements being performed. Persistence to DB4O datastores has been improved and initial support for JDOQL querying was added. The default bytecode enhancer was changed to ASM. Improvements to JPQL support were made. Several bugs were fixed in the transaction/connection handling, particularly for JCA.
