Mpg123 is a fast, free and portable MPEG audio player for Unix. It supports MPEG 1.0/2.0/2.5 layers 1, 2 and 3. For full CD quality playback (44 kHz, 16 bit, stereo) a fast i486, Pentium, SPARCstation10, DEC Alpha or similar CPU is required. Mono and/or reduced quality playback (22 kHz or 11 kHz) is even possible on slower 486 CPUs. License: GNU Lesser General Public License (LGPL) Changes: This is the first release candidate for version 1.0. It includes a full-featured decoder library and a plugin system for audio output. Testing is mainly needed for building on different platforms and making exotic audio outputs work again. Besides fixing bugs and enabling exotic platforms again, there are no changes to be expected before the final version 1.0.0.
