Laptop Mode Tools allows you to control various
power management settings based on AC/battery
power state. Among other things, it controls
Linux's "Laptop Mode" feature that allows your
hard drive to spin down for extended periods. It
can also control CPU frequency scaling and screen
blanking timeouts (both terminal and X). It
supports automatic hibernation when battery is
low.

Changes:
A new module has been added that supports AC97 power saving mode. Support for file system read-ahead is now also available for Linux 2.4. The dependency on LSB has been removed. There have been various bugfixes in module handling, IPW power saving, the init scripts, HD power management, and ACPI event detection.
