Userful Desktop Multiplier is a virtualized X server that turns one computer into ten "workstations" by using extra video cards, keyboards, and monitors. This approach offers significantly higher performance and lower hardware costs than Thin Client or LTSP. It installs on most popular Linux distributions (Red Hat, Novell/SuSE, Fedora, Mandriva, Xandros, Linspire, Ubuntu, etc.). It supports USB touch screens (Elotouch, Microtouch), card-swipes, barcode scanners, as well as all virtually all video cards supported by X. It features easy setup and graphical configuration. License: Free for non-commercial use Changes: Support for Fedora 7, openSUSE 10.2, SLED10 SP1, Mandriva 2008, and Ubuntu 7.10 was added. The software is now available from Ubuntu Multiverse and can be installed using Ubuntu's "Add/Remove" tool. The licensing module was enhanced. The maximum number of X input devices was increased. The INSTALL/UNINSTALL program was upgraded. A better user interface and automatic version checking were provided.
