Scala is a modern multi-paradigm programming
language designed to express common programming
patterns in a concise, elegant, and type-safe way.
It smoothly integrates features of object-oriented
and functional languages including mixins,
algebraic datatypes with pattern matching,
genericity, and more. It is well integrated with
Java and .NET: the Scala compiler produces standard Java class files or .NET assemblies, and Java/.NET libraries and frameworks can be used without glue code or additional declarations.
